‘AFRICAN BEAT’ Performance Course

‘African Beat’ is an amateur performance course inspired by the heat and passion of African music and dancing and it’s influence on the International Latin dancing as we know it. The main dance styles of this formation routine are Samba, Cha-Cha and Salsa with some awesome styling. It’s going to be fun and very energetic.

– perform in front of a friendly and appreciative audience at the SUMMER SIZZLE Dance and BBQ Party on 24 June 2017 at The Dukes Meadows Golf and Tennis Club in Chiswick, W4 2SH.

WHEN: The course is starting on 23 April for 10 weeks. Classes will take place every Sunday at 2 – 4pm with the last rehearsal on Friday 23 June at 7-9pm ( venue tbc).

THE SHOW: You will debut at the SUMMER SIZZLE Dance and BBQ Party on 24 June 2017 at The Dukes Meadows Golf and Tennis Club in Chiswick, W4 2SHThere will be more opportunities to perform this number afterwards.

PARTNERING: You don’t need a partner to sign up for the course, but if you join as a couple you can dance together. Partnering will be decided based on the dance abilities and height. There will be a lot of solo dancing and changing of partners. You can also book a professional partner for the duration of the course and the show nights (extra fee applies).

REQUIREMENTS: You need to be at least an Intermediate level dancer, preferably in International Ballroom and Latin styles. Commitment is very important to ensure you make the most out of your dancing and time invested and to keep the high standard of the performance group. You should not miss more than two rehearsals in the 10 week period.
You will also be expected to invite at least three guests to the event to support your performance.

COSTUMES: Costumes will be discussed with the group and the teacher. You will buy your costumes and you will keep them.

FEE: The course is £190, which includes your ticket to the event and rehearsal on the night. The payment should be made in full on the second week of the course. Extra rehearsals are £70 shared between the number of people attending. Cost of the costumes will be confirmed in the due course and discussed with the group.
